Oil & Cold Wax
For the past few years, I’ve been seduced by the use of cold wax as a medium. It appeals to my love of experimentation, texture and the physicality of working with paint layers. Utilizing a specially formulated wax mixed with oil paint, other mediums, and sometimes marble dust, the process is a journey that allows my personal history to take form. It’s a history of embedded images both observed, imagined and quite possibly a genealogical one as well. My Father’s lineage traces back to Montana & La Nouvelle France; my Mother’s side is from the Black Forest.
